Smashbox PhotoFinish Lid Primer & PhotoFinish Targeted Pore & Fine Line Primer

Hi everyone!

As promised, I have a review of the Smashbox PhotoFinish Targeted Pore & Fine Line Primer. I was at Sephora and talked to the sales lady about how to best cover up my pores. I have some acne scars and very noticeable pores that I'm always trying to cover up.

She recommended the Smashbox PhotoFinish Light Primer (I have very oily skin)..when I told her that I was already using that, she then recommended that I try the new ultra-concentrated primer from Smashbox under the face primer. After playing around with it, I decided that it was worth a try so I decided to purchase it. However, instead of buying the big, regular tube, I got their Wish for the Perfect Primers collection. It came with a full size PhotoFinish Primer (it's the regular one, not the light), PhotoFinish Lid Primer, and the PhotoFinish Targeted Pore & Fine Line Primer in travel size.

Let's start with the Pore and Fine Line Primer

...womp womp woooommmppp...I was heavily, heavily disappointed with this. I had such high hopes! I love Smashbox...I love their face primers...whether its the color corrector, the oil free primer, or just the regular, those are all great. But with this Pore and Fine Line Primer, I just felt like it really didn't do anything different. I tried using it under and on top (not all together, just separately) of my regular face primer as the sales lady suggested and also by itself, but it just didn't do anything different from the regular face primer. It is ultra concentrated, but it feels stickier. It didn't have that soft velvety feel that the others have. Basically...I don't have too much to say about this....it doesn't do anything different and I'm very disappointed that it didn't work better for me. :(

Moving onto it's packaged partner....the Lid Primer.

Along with other high end eyeshadow primers, it works. Compared to other high end primers, such as Urban Decay's Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance...it definitely does not surpass it. I would say....it's probably in the top 20. What I liked about it was the way how it helped the colors come across and the staying power! I put makeup on at 6:30 AM and don't take it off until around midnight right before bed each night and the eyeshadow lasted all the day long. I like the neutral color of it (most are like this) because I have a tanner skin shade so it blends in more and doesn't look streaky. What I don't like about it, is the thickness of the actual product. I don't want it to be liquidy either, but this was wayyy super thick. I don't know if it's just the single one I got or if they're all like that but man, it was a huge glob. Which was surprising to me because the wand should've caught it all. When I applied it on, it didn't spread too well, it was super thick so I can't use too much at a time.

Since I didn't like either product, I decided to take this wish set back. While I was there, the saleslady there told me about some other products that may help. I HAD NO IDEA that Sephora did samples of whatever product they have...OMG! This is actually old news, but it's EXCELLENT news! She gave me a sample of the Cover Fx foundation (which Kandee Johnson uses as a foundation and concealer!), and a product to help cover pores (I don't remember what it's called and it's in my car which my hubby took to work :( Sorry). I'm going to try these products and I'll let you guys know how it goes. I might even do before and after pictures too...we'll see. I'm not sure if I want to display the ugliness that is my skin up close though. LOL...hope you guys enjoyed these reviews....ttyl!
