Review: Goody Spin Pin

Okay, so first of all, welcome to my blog! I think (and most other people who know me) that it's pretty safe to say that I like to try out new things. AND...I like to voice my opinion on it. I also love hearing how others rate the product and really, I want to know if a product actually performs the way it is marketed to. So hopefully here, you will enjoy and hopefully learn from my reviews. I like honest opinions and I value them, so I hope that you will appreciate mine. Once again, this is just my opinion.

Alrighty, on to the review. When I first saw this commercial, I was intrigued but very hesitant. I couldn't really believe that ONE (or even two) pins could hold an entire bun together for more than 15 to 30 minutes. I thought about buying it just to try it but eventually forgot about it. It wasn't until I saw Emily Eddington (www.beautybroadcast.net) reviewing and giving a tutorial of this product on her Youtube Channel that I became very interested in it. Truthfully, after seeing Emily try it out with her hair, I started searching for it. Now, Emily's hair does have some layers, so that made me want to try it out. My hair alone has A LOT of layers, so I didn't expect it to hold just like hers, but I was curious.

To my surprise and DELIGHT, these pins are FREAKIN' AWESOME! Now it did take me awhile to locate these in a store. I went to Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, and CVS in my town. I couldn't find any AT ALL. One day I was in a town over and had to run to the Super Wal-Mart because I needed some soap. My husband needed some fishing stuff, so as I was waiting for him, I was browsing the beauty section, and THERE THEY WERE!!! They were around $6 or so, but I figured, I've been looking and now I just gotta get them. As soon as I paid for them, I immediately tried them out in my car. Without a mirror, I followed the directions in the package and to my surprise, they stayed. With all the layers that I have in my hair, it felt secure and like it would be staying put. Now of course, because of all the layers, I did have to bobby pin down some of the ones that were falling out, but no biggie at all!

All in all, I am absolutely in love with these pins. I have a couple of sets and keep at least a set in my purse for "one of those days". I showed these to the girls I work with (one who wears a bun EVERY DAY) and they were just as interested as I was in them when I first heard. I love the fact that styling my hair into a simple and elegant bun is this easy. In fact, I was running very late for work this morning and was able to still do my hair in a very stylish bun to compliment my makeup. It looked very neat and professional yet stylish and sophisticated. I don't mind that I still have to pin down a couple of hair strands, but I'm positive that someone who didn't have as many layers as I do wouldn't have to pin any extra hair down.

The only con to this product is the limited color choice. I think they only have blonde or brunette. I have jet black hair (not by choice, I'm Asian and it is EXTREMELY difficult to color my hair), and the brunette pins are still too light. I have to find ways to hide the pins so that the lighter shade of brown does not show through. Other than that, EXCELLENT product!
